How do I care for 14k gold-filled jewelry?

KASA KASAMA uses 14k gold-filled metals in all jewelry designs. It is hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and more robust and longer lasting than other demi-fine gold metals (such as vermeil or gold-plated), making it the most practical alternative to karat gold.

To get as much use and life out of your jewelry, we strongly advise avoiding any vigorous tugging or rubbing, or even sleeping in your jewelry. Please also avoid exercising, showering, or swimming with your gold-filled jewelry on.

It is natural for any gold elements to change color or tarnish over time. If your gold-filled jewelry is in need of some TLC, our favorite method of cleaning is to gently wash with the item with warm water and pat dry with a soft cloth. For spot cleaning, use a q-tip dipped in warm water to easily get rid of any residue. You can also purchase a jewelry polishing cloth at other jewelry shops.

All jewelry items come with an eco-friendly jewelry box and/or jewelry pouch. If you do not have a jewelry box at home, we recommend storing your pieces in the provided box or pouch to keep them cool and avoid being scratched.

How do I keep pearl jewelry healthy?

All KASA KASAMA pieces are intentionally designed with the pearl to serve as its central focus.

Beyond our cultural and sentimental reasons for using the pearl, there are many other reasons to honor the only gemstone that comes from a living creature. Pearls are natural, organic and environmentally-sustaining. The production of pearls preserves the natural environment as it requires a healthy water ecosystem for growth. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes, and are perfect for those looking for something that is truly and wonderfully unique. Also versatile, pearls offer a subtle and understated appeal that pairs well with other gems, metals and materials.

To properly take care of your pearls, be sure they are the final touch to any outfit, after makeup, hair care, skin care or perfume have been applied. Pearls are most at home in a moist environment, so wearing them frequently will keep them from drying out. If your pearls are in need of a clean, wipe them gently with a soft cloth or visit your local jeweler for a thorough and safe cleaning.
